The hall, with the Newtown liorough cilice, and live unoccupied shops, were totally dee* troyed. Four shops belonged to Mr A. O. Lee, and the other shop to the hall, and (he offices belonged to Mr John Morrison. While this fire was blazing, another alarm wu given that a fire had broken out in a bourn in Itaudolph Street, off Newton road. This place is quite close, ami several of the brigade ran and extinguished the dames. They found the fire was caused by a bundle of raga saturated with kerosene. After they left the place the fire again broke out, and the building was totally destroyed. 'lhs is believed to be a dear case of arson. The police apprehended the owner, a enter named MoCauslsnd, and his wife.
