WAIROA COVERED TEN FEET DEEP WITH MUD AND ASHES. FOUR VOLCANOES IN ACTION. FORTY EUROPEANS KILLED. TWENTY SIX BODIES FOUND. Auckland, This? Day. Wairoa is completely destroyed by deposits of lava. Tho ground is covered ten feet deep with mud and ashes. Twenty six dead bodies have been uncovered. Four volcanoes still in eruption. Mount Tarawera is throwing lava over Wairoa, six miles distant.! It is reported that up to ths present time forty Europeans have been killed. It is estimated that sixty square miles of country are disturbed. Ihe Tikitipu bush lias been uprooted, ami the two eum l lakes destroyed. Fresh eruptions are reported to bo taking place. Mr Hazard was once a printer iu tbe Otago Daily Times office.
