The Session.

Appabjntly Major Atkinson and his followers hare, for the time being, lost heart. Major Atkinson stated in the House on

Friday that as Mr Montgomery’s proposal for reductions had not been carried, ho and his party would not make a fight to reduce the Estimates in detail, but throw the responsibility of making reductions or otherwise, upon the' Government. It is stated that the Government hope to bring the Session to a close in about six weeks. This is all very well, but no one can tell what turn affairs may yet take.
