SPORTING.

At the last meeting of the stewards of the Wellington Racing Club, it was decided to hold a steeplechase meeting at the flntt on Saturday, the 10th July. The programme, which hae been already drawn up, comprises six events, viz., Trial Steeplechase Handicap of 80 sots, Hurdle Handicap of 100 sovs, Local Hurdle Handicap of 30 sovs, Wellington Steeplechase Handicap of 150 sovs, three miles Selling Hack Hurdle Race of 15 sovs, and Cooeolation Race of 40 sovs.

The weights for the Taratahi-Carterton Queen’s Birthday Race Meeting, have given very general satisfaction, and there is every reason to anticipate that the acceptances will I - well upto the mark. As this ia the last race meeting that will be held in the district until the spring, a well attended meeting a til no doubt ensue.
