Taratahi-Carterton Road Board.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Saturday. Present Msmts Boys (chairman). Booth, H R Bunny, H firaitbvarte. Dorset, J Reynolds, Parker, Gallon and N Grace.

The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.

A statement of accounts relative to each ward was laid upon the table. It was resolved that Mr Dakin be informed that be must pey the balance of his rates, and if be wante any remuneration for gravel which ie being taken from bis land he must apply in the ordinary way. Messrs Boys and Bunny recommended that Mr B P Perry be paid for his outlay in baying the drain deepened on the road abutting on bis land. In reference to the complaint of some eettlere on the Taratahi, who wished to have a separate Road Board, it was resolved to bold a special meeting of this Board on the 17th April instant, and to invite them to attend to make known their grievance.

Mr W Cundy wrote in respect to clearing out the drain on Park road. It was decided to leave it in the hands of the Warden. A letter was read from the Genertl Manager of Bailwsys re the stoppage of traffic on the siding st Mstarawa, and promised to ses to it.

An application was received from the Wsirsrapa West County Council for the loan of £9OO, to complete certain works which were commenced on the Gladstone-Wainuioru toad. After a good dear of discussion on the matter, it was moved by Mr Booth, seconded by Mr Bonny, that this Board lend the required nun to the Council as soon as the Board has funds.

Mr Bunny requested that the Bank interest for an overdraft to enable the Board to raise the required sum should be charged to No SWard solely, (this motion was to take effect providing the Featheraton Road Board lent the required sum to the Council lor the Martin borough Pahao Road).

M. sari Butler and Bond wrote requesting the Board to have the gate shifted from off the Hinan Gully Hoad. It was left in the hands of the Warden to deal with.

Mr Dnscoll asked for some little repairs to the road leading to bis place. Left to the Warden.

Mr J Btacett wrote, asking the Board to hare the road opened leading from Dalefield Boad to bia place and offered to do it himself at 10a per chain, to hare 12 months to complete the job. The Board was of opinion that the price was too high, especially as Mr Bassett is the only one interested. The matter was allowed to stand over.

Mr H B Bunny asked that a progress payment of £l3O be made to the contractor on Cartenon-Giadstone Boad and also that Mr Daly's money be passed for payment as he had almost finished his contract. Application granted. # Home accounts were passed for payment and the meeting adjourned.
