Education Board.
A meeting of tbe Board cf Education was bald on Wednesday, there being present — Masers Blair (I'hairman). Buchanan, Young, •ad Shannon, Rev J. Paterson, Dr Newman aal tbe Mayor. Mr Buchanan was instructed to report as lo tbe eoet of an additional room at W&ibakake. An application by tbe Clareviile Committee (or new dnal desks was granted. It was decided to enlarge the Belvedere School to the same size as tbe Wadestowu School. An application for the erection of a scullery in connection with the Pabiitua residence was decline 1. Various tenders were accepted, and it was decided to invite tenders for additions to the Halt, Belvedere, and Fabiatne Schools, and larger additions to tbe Fitinoa Schools. Estimate of repairs to the Carterton and Greytoen Schools were referred to the Board's Architect (Mr Turnbull) to report upon. Tbe Belvedere Committee wrote lint in consequence of certain grave charges against Mr Fiaser, they had decided to recommend bia dismissal. On the motion of Mr Buchanan, it was decided that the recommendation ol tbe Committee should be left :u the bands of tbe Chairman of the Board, Mr Fraser to have an opportunity of demanding an enquiry ahould he decline to accept instant dSmiaaal. Mr Buchanan gave notice that at next ——»»nff he would move that a new residence be erected at Kaitare. Mr J. R. Blair was unanimously re-elected Chairman of tbe Board on the motion of Mr H. Bunny, who stated that Mr Blair was the beat chairman the Board ever had. Dr Newman seconded tbe motion. Mr Blsir, in returning thanks for tbe honor conferred upon him, said he regarded tbe position as one of the most important which could be held by any eiliaen. Tbe Education Board decided that tbe School Committee elections should take place throughout the district at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, tbe 37th inat.
