Wellington Special Settlement Association.

A meeting of members of this Association was held at the Athcn.i um Hull, Wellington, on Monday evening. Tbe Committee reported that the Government offered two blocks near Gketabuna at LI per acre, and the Committee suggested that a block of 11.oof) acres should be taken up. I'lie Committee was satisfied with the Government valuation, and recommended that steps should be taken immediately to allocate tbe land au l gut it settled. The delegates' report was read. It gave a lengthy and detailed account of the visit to the blocks of laud, and recommended th at a block on the Northern side of the Masterton selection, and also a piece on the Smith side if necessary, should be taken up if suitable arrangements could be made. A letter from the Government was read, accept - ting the Association’s application for a small farm block of 11,000 acres at 20s an acre. The proposal to connect the two blocks (near Eketahuna) of 7000 and 4000 acres by a belt of country joining them was also approved, providing proper allowance was rrade fur a road. A list was then taken of the amount each member desired to take up, and it was decided to allow any member absent to make his application within a week. Seven thou« sand and nine hundred aud fifteen acres wera applied for in the room by 78 members. At tbe enggestiou of the Secretary, it was decided that the Committee should Lave power to make the levy as soon as the eon tract price for survey was fixed.
