Mr Charles Harvell, an experienced tobacco plantei, is now in the Wairarapa This gentlemaa has written an able pamphlet on tobacco culture and m mufacture, which has received much attention from the members of the present Government and the House of Kepresentatives. Coming from each an authority, the work should be very acceptable to the settlers in the Valley particularly, las it is generally known that some of the laud in the district is specially adapted (or th<. ocvc'opment of this particulai industry. Ur Harvell lays great stress upon the importance oi obtaining the proper seed for the purpose, and recommends the Pennsylvania and Massachusetts seed as the most suitable for the land and climate of the Wairarapa, and the seed requires to bt fresh and obtained from reliable sources. He advises hia readers tc most religiously avoid samples called Bull tongue, German strip, Ac. A perusal of this interesting book which may he obtained for one shilling pe copy, will no doubt be most interesting ti many settlers, as undoubtedly the enterprise will prove a most lucrative one if proper!, managed.
