A New Trade Opening.
One, Captain Fisher, has cone to Wellington on a mission to get tetter mesns of communication established between tint port and Fiji. Captain Fisher contends thatthere is a laige aud profitable market open to Wellington producers if only they can arrange for direct communication—that is without the prejudicial transhipment—and that an «xtensive mutual trade could easily be established. Fiji could supply coffee, sugar, tea, fruit, etc., and could take large quantities ol frozen meat, dairy produce, flour and other articles which could be furnished of far b.tter quality by Wellington than at anv Northern port. No other port can rival Wellington as to frozen meat and dairy produce, and a vast opening fur the remunerative disposal of these and "reduce is available at Fiji. Thp pro- ‘ -'■".ideration, and it is fo be posal is wortli to. . «ioretafits and hoped that the Wellington .. Chamber of Commerce will take it up agitate for its trial.
