Latest American Invention. VICTORY OFTIECTRIGITY. QINCE Electricity has been applied for lighting purO poses, all efforts of inventors have been directed to construct a lamp for general domeatie nae. The reason why this problem hat till now not been solved, ia that none of the inrentor* could rid themaelTe* of the idea of gaa lighting, and that all hare adhered to the system of producing the Electricity in some central place, or by large machinery, instead ef first laving down the principle that a Lamp which should ever become generally nsefhl and popular, must be portable, like an Oil Lamp, and contain the generator of Electricity in itself, i. e., in the foot of the Lamp. The Norman Electric Light Co. has at last succeeded in completely realising this ideal of Electric Lighting, and there is no donbt that this most important invention will bring about a complete revolution in all branches of lighting. Our Electric Lamp needs neither Machinery, Conductor «, nor any expensive outlay, and it neither complicated, nor disagreeable in manipulation,- all that is necessary it to refill it every four or five days with acid. Theeott of lighting trill be at cheap at oat ii cents per hour), and it hat before the latter the immense advantage of neither producing heat, smoke nor carbonic acid, owing to which the air is not impnred, and remains at the same degree of temperature. It is farther, absolutely inodorous, and dees not need to be kindled by match, or otherwise, but simply by turning the key, thus avoiding oU danger of fire, explosion or suffocation, as in the case of gat, if the key is left open : and it mutt be conceded that this advantage alone it invaluable. It it further preferable to any known kind of lighting for the following reasons (I.) Its manipulation it to simple that any child can keep it in order. (2.) That the Lamp ia portable, and can be removed like any Oil Lamp, from one place to another. (3.) That it neither requires the disagreeable fixing of the wick, or the cleaning of the cylinder, as in the case of Oil Lamps. (4.) That the light produced is a soft and most steady one ; that it never flickers, and the flame, though being equal in power of lighting to gas, can be regulated to any degree. (5.) That every danger of fire is abeolutely excluded, as the light will extinguish immediately, if by any accident the glass surrounding the burner should be broken. (it.) That it will burn, even in the strongest wind, completely unaffected, thus being invaluable for illuminations, lighting of gardens, corridora, etc. 1 his Lamp is constructed for the present in three different sixes : A, small size. Height oCcomplete Lamp, 14 inches; weight, about 6 pounds : for lighting rooms, cellars, storage houses, powder magasines (or similar placet where explosives are kept), coaches, illuminations, gardens, mines, er any other industrial purpose. Price, LI, per Lamp, delivered free to any part ot the world. B, medium size. Serves all domestic purposes for lighting rooms, houses, etc. This Lamp it elegantly decorated, and bat removable white ground Olass Globe. Price, per Lamp (inclusive of Bronte Foot and Globe, nohly and elegantly constructed), 12, | delivered free to any part of the world. I C, Grand site tor Parlor, Hall, Saloon, Public Building, &c.
