London, January 1. The stocks of frozen mutton are unusually low, and prices hare improved a farthing per pound. The inhabitants of the Shan States are displaying a hostile feeling to the British) and the Slian chiefs are coalescing, with a view to entering British territory. A force of 600 British troops is being prepared to suppress any disturbance. A proclamation formally announcing the annexation of Burmab by Great Britain has bean issued.
Constantinople, December 31. Both Bulgaria and Servia have demobilised their reserve forces, but the standing armies of the two countries still remain in the field.
