"WRECK OF A GERMAN STEAMER. FUNERAL OF GENERAL SCRATCHLEY. London, December 15. A Bill has been introduced into the American Senate haring for its object the suspension of silver coinage in America, Madras, December 15. Arrangements have been concluded by which King Theehaw and his Queen will be interned here. A residence has been provided for them, and though not kept close prisoners they will be under surveillance. Brisbane, December 16. Telegram? from Townsville announce the wreck of the German steamship Papu. The crow managed to escipein the ship’s boats and landed at Townsville. Melbourne, DecemberlG. The public funeral ofthe remdns ofthe late General Scr-itcfiley took place in the St Kilda Cemetery at ten o’clock this morning. The ceremony was of a ven’solemn and imposing character, and the various Australasian colonies were numerously and influentially represented. The funeral obsequies were performed by the Bishop of Melbourne. The procession, which was very lengthy, included the two metropolitan battalions of the Victorian Infantry Militia, and there was a very large attendance of the general public to do honor to General Scratchley's memory.
