The demand on the part of the Powers for an armistice doe, not appear to have been conclusive, and in ipite ot the deamock which has occurred, both Se'rvia and Ruicanaare remaining on the defensive. The elections are now concluded, the following being the result :-In England the numbers are— Liberals, 244; Conservatives, 220 ; in Wales, Liberal, 27, Censervsrives, 3 ; in Scotland, Liberals 62. Coneerratives 19; and in Ireland, Conservatives 18, Parnelhtes So. The totals are—Liberals 333. Conser. rar.Tea 2dl, and Parnellitcg S6. seems to be no prospect of an alliance between the moderate Liberals and tne Government. It is unlikely that the Liberals will attempt the early eipnl«ion of the Ministry. It i, believed in high quarters that the Conservatives have refused to secede to the demands of Hr Parneil.
