Wairarapa West County Council.
The statutory sleeting of tho County Council adjourned from Wednesday, Nov. 25th, was held at the Council Chambers, Carterton, on Wednesday last. Councillors W. Booth (chairman), W. C. Buchanan, H. B. Banny, H. Bunny, H. Braithwaite, J. Tally, and A. Matthews.
Mr W. Booth on tho motion of Cr H. B. Buuny seconded by Cr A. Matthews, was re elected Chairman of the Council for the ensuing year.
Mr Booth in accepting the position, thanked the Council for the compliment and assured the councillors that he would endeavour in the future to still retain the confidence they had reposed in him by re-electing him to the position of their Chairman, and would use his best endeavours to carry out the duties of the office iu an earnest manner to their satisfaction.
Some considerable discussion ensued, re the withdrawal of Mr Bennett from his contract for the Hurunuiorangi Bridge. It was ultimately carried that the deposit (£SO), be relumed to Mr Benuett, less charges for readvertising, Ac. At the meeting of the County Council ou Wednesday last, three tenders for tho building of the Wainuioru Bridge were received, and that of Mr Dawson of eleven hundred odd pounds was accepted.
