At the Wellington Racing Club’s Spring Meeting on Saturday Juliet won the Cavalry Itace ; The Poet won the Local Handicap and the Great Duke St Andrew’s Handicap. Nominations for the Featherston Handicaps close to-morrow, the Ist December. The sale of goods advertised to take place at Mr Wood’s Auction Room, will take place at the Town Hall. The tickets that have been sold for admission to the auction room will of course be available for the Town Hall, The sale takes place on Friday. We call the attention of the Volunteers to the Inspection Parade to take place in the Greytown Town Hall, to-morrow evening. A meeting of the Kaitara School Committee was held at the schoolroom on Saturday evening last. Present—Messrs W. S. Wakelin (Chairman), J, Hodge (Secretary), Ward, Wood, Dick and Waite. The accounts were gone over for the year and income and liabilities considered and both proved to nearly balance. The person cleaning the school wishing to discontinue the work immediately, the Secretary was authorised to have the work done up to the Christmas holidays. The teacher writing to say he was much in want of another blackboard, it was agreed to supply one as soon as possible. It was agreed to open the well and have it cleaned out, as the tank filled by rain water from the iron roof would become empty very auickly in the dry weather. The Chairman was requested to call the attention of the Warden for the district of the Peatherston Road Board to the very incomplete manner in which the gravel pit had been filled in.
