Low Price of Stud Stock in Canterbury.

Wb are sorry to notice that the annual sale of stud stock at Christchurch has been a failure. The Canterbury Press of the 28th ult., remarks On Saturday afternoon a number of the horses which had been on parade were put up for sale at public auction at Tattersall’s. There was a very large attendance of the public, but not of buyers. Bidding was very slow ; in no case was the reserve reached, and Mr J. T. Matson, who wielded the hammer, spent two and a-half hours in trying to sell stock, which was ultimately returned to the boxes. Judging by the published list the stock of thoroughbred horses, draught horses and Clydesdales, offered was a really splendid one,
