Wool.
in connection with the wool exhibits in the Industrial Exhibition, the juror* report : Wool in bales tSo Hired merinos— There is one bale of ibis class, shown by Mr 11. Campbell, of Waiiaki, and only one bale of scoured crossbivii by Mr P. McCaskill, of Winchester (>..mldine). The scouring of boih classes i.< i xceedingly well done, and deseives ta mmendation, although the wools do ml come into competition with each olio r. Wool Samples —There appear to bo two classes of exhibits under line, heading, viz;—(1) Wool grown by exhibitors; (2) wool not grown by exhibitors. are of op nion that eacli should be dealt with separately, and wo therefore report on that basis.
Samples of Fleeces grown by Exhibitors. —Merino—There are three entiles in this class, and competition be ng so msignili* cant, we would not ncommend that any prize be given. We, however, consider the exhibit by Mr Cyrus (loitl'cr, of Blenheim, is worthy of special mention. Samples not grown by Inhibitors.— Merino, Lincoln, Kmnney Marsh, and crossbreds.—There are but two exhibits, and in our opinion they me not sullicunt to merit a prize. We place the exhibit by Mr M. 11. Miller, of .Napier, first, and it is deserving of commendation. The collection of Homiiey Mandt samples, grown by Mr A. Mathews, of Feathersion, deserves special mention. We venture to express some surprise at the paucity of exhibits in the wool class, and that irom amongst all tho wool growers of the colony so few have exhibited in a class representing the main product of the country. This is doubtless owing to the unfavorable time of collecting fleece exhibits, of which entries had to he made, being between ,the seasons, too late lor exhibits to be collected at last season of shearing, and too soon for ensuing shearing.
