SPORTING.

LOWER VALLEY JOCKEY CLUB, A meeting of the Lower Valley Jockey Club was held ou Saturday night. Mr John Martin, jun., in the chair. A quantity of routine business was disposed of and some accounts passed. The Secretary reported that although subscriptions had come in tardily of late, still the position of the Club was healthy and he looked forward to a successful meeting next season. Ho accounted for the dilllcultv in settling up Inst season's affairs to the scattered nature of the membership district and to the few' opportunities for meeting. After the financial business had been disposed of by the committor, a general meeting of members was held, when some new memrs were enrolled and the following stewards elected for the ensuing .tear ; Messis W. Bidwill, C. J. Tally, C. Harris, G Bain, 11, Dowman, S. Malnipaku, W. Hutana, J. Orr, G. Harris, J. Hodge, jun., A. R. Macfe.iUue, and E. Martin. The following officers were also elected : Vice President, J. .Martin, jun.; Judge, Wallace Smith; Handicappur. A. R. Marfa:lane ; Cleric of Scales, J. McLeod ; Timekeeper, W. 0. Williams. The acceptance of Mr Evans’ resignation as secretary was deferred until the appointment of a successor. It was reported that a Groytown reMdont used his member’s ticket at the las*, race meeting, but now repudiates his membership and will not pay the fee.
