Wairarapa Standard Published Tri-weekly, Price Id. WEDNESDAY, JUNE 21, 1885. The Estimates.

Ttm Estimates for the year 1885-86 were laid upon the table of the House on Monday night. The total appropriations under the ordinary revenue account are L 3,972,133 as against 1.3,819,013 last year, the amount expended of the appropriation for 1384-85 being L 5,789,209. The permanent appropriations for the year are L 1,800,107, being au increase of L 157,515. The total annual appropriations are L 5,172,026. The Legislative branch shows a reduction of L 50,195 on last year’s vote. This reduction is owing to there hating Ir en two sessions last year, and to ih3 further fact that the honorarium is :unv being voted under special Act ami placed under permanent appropriations. In the Colonial Secretary’s department there is a decrease of L 20,000 in the vote. There is a reduction in the Colonial Treasurer’s department of L 3376. In the department of the Minister of Justice there is a reduction of about L2OOO, In the Postmaster-General’s department there is an increase over last year’s expenditure of L 16.716 ; Customs, increase, LISOO ; Stamps, decrease, LIOOO ; Education, increase, L 20,700 ; Native department, increase, LI3OO ; Mines, increase, LBOO ; Pub lie Works, increase, LSOOO ; Defence, increase, L 26,274. The total permanent appropriations (Land Fund Account) under special Acts of Legis ■ 1 at me, amount to L 32,000, as against L 25,500 last year. Under this heading, appropriation for Minister of Lands shows decrease of L44,11K), while the appropriation for the Colonial Treasurer (rates, Crown and Native lands) show an increase of L 2,258. The total appropriations under the Land Fund Account are L 207.935, as against L 243,251 voted last year (of which amount L 208,118 were expended). The total appropriations for services chargeable on Consolidated Fund show an increase of L 117,744, the total for this year being L 4,180,063. The amount expended of last year’s vote was L 3,997,227. Tho appropriations for services chargeable on Public Trust Cilices Expenses Account are L 4275, being a slight increase on last year’s vote.
