Colonial Defence.
It is stated that the Government have received the report and plans proposed by Major Cautley, R.E., for the defence of the principal ports of the colony, and that it has been decided to take prompt and vigorous action to at once place those ports in a state of effective defence, This will mean the expenditure of an enormous sum of money.
