Featherston Road Board.
This Board met at the Eoad Board Office on Saturday last. Present—Messrs J. Donald (Chairman) A, Matthews, H. Duddiug, W. E. Bidwill, Wm. Smith, D. McDougal,C. Harris" J. Tally, f The Treasurer reported a credit balance of L 216 17s sd. Messrs J. Donald and D. McDougal were appointed to sign cheques. Accounts to the amount of Lll4 7g 7d were passed for payment. A letter was read from E. Kelly objecting to the road passing through his section, No 1 Featlierston block. Tenders were received for—(1). Forming road through the bash at Battersea, 10.5 chains. Jas. Haggerty and Co., L2 4s Gd. Alex Dick 1.2 3s Gd, accepted. (2). Formation of fourteen chains lower end of swamp, Wm. Power, <JJ pet cubit yard, accepted. As only one tender was received for spikes, the consideration was was adjourned. The following is the ranger’s report • Trespass fees for the month LI Bs. Poundage fees, Waibenga, LI 19s 3d. Poundage fee", Featherston LI Bs. Total, Ll 15s 3d. Mr Matthews having pointed out that the creek was damaging the approaches of the cemetery bridge, the cleric was instructed to write to Mr J. T. Ho.ldcr requesting him to remove the Hood gates placed above the bridge. Ibe clerk was instructed to write to Mr Beetbam and ask if he would be willing to dispose of a small corner of his paddock at the Camp, to enable the Board to improve the corner of the road, as several accidents had already occurred at this point tbfroad8 UddiDK proposed t0 clear Blips off Mr Donald proposed to put some more metal on Yule’s line and clear drain on Murphy’s hue. Mr E. Bidwill proposed to get another con ract for metal on Kahautara road. Mr Smith applied for the engineer to examine and report on the road at Otars a and leading to Harris’and prepare specific .ous. As soon as the survey of the Wd to Grapy Hill was complete the engineer to prepare plans forest on th/JSk.The clerk was instructed to write to Messrs Beard and Gray and instruct them to prooeedagamstE.
