WAIOHINE RIVER BOARD.

A meeting of the Board was held in the Town Hall, Greytown, on the sth October. Present Messrs Gaselberg (Chairman) Gallagher, and Kempton. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed

The following accounts were passed for payment

Blight 28 11 8 Fabian Bros. 81 2 5 The Overseer handed in his report which was read The clerk reported that two tenders had been received for supply ins/ 3000 fascines, viz , T. Wiggins, £59 7s (id ; W. H. Morris, £42 ; and that the latter tender had been accepted by Mr Kempton. and the contract signed. The following correspondence was received ; Letter from Mr Ridley informing the Board that it is his intention to press his claim on the Board for compensation. Letter from the Under Secretary for Public Works, advising the Board that the £SOO grant had been sent from the Treasury on the 12th Sept. Mr W. Y. Ridley waited on the Board relative to the water running through his property, and asking the Board to protect hu land.

The clerk was instructed to write to Messrs Morphy and Hooker, expressing the regret of the Board that in consequence of two members of the Beard being absent, it has again to defer the consideration of their letter, and stating that as soon as a full meeting is secured their letter shall be considered, and the decision arrived at shall be communicated to them at once. The Chairman reported that he had received a letter from Mr Garnish relative to the course of the river. The Clerk wasiustructed to acknowledge the receipt of the same, and state that it will be considered at a future meeting. Resolved—That after consideration of the contents of Mr Ridley’s letters, and the nature of his interview with the Board, before taking any other steps they will take the advice of the Engineer, and also legal advice.
