MASTERT ON LOCAL BOARD.
A meeting was held on the 6th. September 1876,. Present Messrs Wiliams (chairman), Bannister, Perry, Feast, and Donald. Previous minutes were read and conformed. Messrs Dalrymple A Carriok a deputation from the neWlyJformed Fire Brigade attended gave an account of what have already hhen done, and asked the Board to vote a sum to assist in getting the neoessaay appliances which were estimated to cost from £IOO to £l5O. The chairman reported that since last meeting the culvert iu Chapel Street had been finished, and the contractor paid as also the work, opposite Messrs Doneoker and Dillons premises, he also stated that be had re* ceived the sum of £IOO from the Provincial Government and £B7 16s 4d from the General Government. Letters received.
Thomas J. Allen forwarding aeeonnt for contract and extra work amounting to £451 leaving a balance due to him of £lOl and asking for payment. Mr Hanson stating that he had passed Ur Allen’s contract.
The following resolutions were passed:— That before paying Mr Allen any money Mr Hanson be asked to measure the whole of the work. That the Chairman be authorised to employ a man when necessary to attend to any work out of repair, and that he get a wheelbarrow, shovel, hammer, and rake.
That a special meeting of the Board ce held on Tuesday the 12th inst., at half pul 7 o’clock, p.m., to take into consideration what should be done to assist the fire brigade.
