At Gilligan’s cattle sale calves sold at from 37s 6d t heifers and steers £3 10s to £9 ; cows £4 to £6 5s ; pedigree cows, Beetbam’s breeding, £l4 each. Attendance numerous j all stock sold. Fuller bought the Town Hall from the Canine Troupe for three nights for £SO. Wellington, February 25, 7.30 p.m. Arrived...Taupo from the North, with Blondin; Hawea from, the South, Krull and Co opened a cask of meat to«day prepared by some German chemist who claimed that his process would keep it flesh for years. The stench was something frightful. Colonel M*Donald goes home on year’s leave at pay. The first rifle match at Wanganui was won by Morrow of Auckland. One of O’Milley’s men at the reclamation works had his leg broken to-day by a fall of earth.
