TO CORRESPONDENTS.
G.F.—There is now an Act in force Which could prevent any registered Friendly Society breaking up imthe manner yon state and divide ing the funds. Poacher.—The Act lately passed relative to the shooting of game in the colony except in certain months is too long to reprint. Under its provisions boys under 15 years breaking the law can be privately whipped in the presence of the Magistrates. We suppose that in this district thecaatigatibn woud be administered by the District Constables. Colonial Defence.—No portion -of the armed Constabulary are to be stationed in this district. At Wanganui dissatisfaction is loudly expressed at the manner in which the 'Government have chosen the officers—conlerring appointments not on those most worthy of merit, but on their friends, and those who have in-' fluence in the Defence Department. A,W. —An article oh Local Self-government would have appeared to-day, but from an accident in the printing department we are ; compelled to' hold it over until our next.
