Concert. —On Monday evening the concert in aid of the Building Fund of the Church to be erected at Greytown, will take place at the School-house. We are sorry that no larger building can be obtained for the purpose, and we think that it will be a public loss if the project for erecting a public hall should be abandoned. We have seen the programme of the Concert, acd a better or a more attractive one could not have been prepared. Great efforts arc being made to render the Concert a success, and we only fear, should the weather prove favorable, that the room will net be large enough for the audience. The Concert is divided into three parts, and each part will comprise at least ten pieces, selected from the most celebrated masters, including Beethoven, Mozart, Handel, Bishop, and Stevens. The first part will consist entirely of sacred music, but the two succeeding parts will comprise a large number of the most famous glees, rounds, and madrigals. No such an intellectual treat has ever before been offered to the good people of the Wairarapa, and apart therefore from the object for which the funds are to be devoted, we expect to see a large and select audience. Tickets can be had of Mr. Jupp, Mr. Ilirschberg, and at the Moroa Stores. Farmer’s Cum.—We have again to remind members of the Committee that the adjourned Committee meeting of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association will take place at the l ' Basing Sun,” Greytown, this afternoon, when the propriety of establishing a monthly market in the Wairarapa trill also be discussed and determined.
Gkevtown Reserves.— We liavc seen Mr. Bunny with reference to this subject, who informs us that he only knewthrough the Mebcuet that a deputation had been appointed to wait on him relative to this matter, and when it was too late to be present. He will attend the Committee meeting of the Agricultural Association this afternoon, when he will meet the deputation appointed at the late public meeting. We believe his own idea is, and we know that it coincides with that of Mr. Carter that the reserves should form an endowment for a Boarding and Grammar School. There can be no doubt that such an institution would be of great advantage to the district, and provo of especial benefit to Greytowu. Buni.ic Tea. Meeting. —A Tea Meeting was held at the Wesleyan Church Grey town, on Wednesday afternoon, which was very numerously attended. The tea and its usual accompaniments were all that could be desired, the trays having been given gratuitously by members and friends of the Church. Mr. Perry occupied the chair, and speeches by the Revs. Rishworth and Morley, and by Mr. Poole, of Tauhercnikau, and Mr. 11. Tidy, sen., of Greytown. After which a collection was made which with the proceeds of the tickets, amouned to Tl2. The meeting was a great success, and every one seemed to enjoy themselves. Meeting at Tauiiekenikau. —We direct the attention of parties interested to the advertisement relative to the meeting to be held at Tauhercnikau Hotel, on Wednesday next, to take steps to form a District Road Board, and other matters of public interest. Missing. —The search at Peatherston for Mrs. Gaffney, who has now been missing for a fortnight, was finally given up on Wednesday last, as fruitless.
