TO CONTRACTORS. TELEGRAPH POLES. The telegraph commissioner is prepared to receive Tenders for the supply and delivery of Telegraph Poles to be delivered as follows: 50 at Flaxbourne 50 at Kekiranga 50 at Waipapa 50 at Amur! 50 at Gore Bay 50 at Saltwater Creek The poles to be delivered in a secure place above high water mark, to be approved by the Telegraph Engineer. The whole of the poles to be sawn out of the heart of Totara or Black pine, to be 25 feet long, eight inches square at the base, and six inches square at the top. _ Nothing but the heart of these timbers will be acaccepted. Tenders will be received for the whole or any portion of the above supply of poles, and must state the time rvithin which they will be delivered. Tenders addressed “ The Telegraph Engineer, Wellington,'” and endorsed “Tenders for Telegraph Poles in the Middle Island.” to be sent in not later than 12 noon on the 6th March. TENDERS are required for the erection of a Dwelling-house and Shop in Greytown. Plans and Specifications can he seen at the Office of this paper. The Tenders will be r received up to Friday, 16th inst., at the Mekcury Office, Greytown.
*** The sixth clause of the Impounding Act makes it imperative on the impounder of cattle to give a written statement of the number and kind of cattle, and the name of their owner, if known to the Pound Keeper. If the owner be not known, the Pound-keeper must twice advertise a notice in which shall be stated a description of the cattle and, i& any, the brands or marks on the same, in some newspaper, if any such be published within twenty miles of such pound. Consequently -all cattle impounded whether at Featherston, Masterton, or'Taratahi, the owner of which is not known, must be twice advertised in the Meecitey.
