HAMILTON STOCK SALE. /, - ' NevT Zealand, Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd,, Hamilton, report on their weekly Frankton stock sale held on Tuesday as follows: Cattle: Fair numbers of ox beef showed an appreciable improvement over last week's rates, medium class particularly being keenly sought afGood quality cows were in small supply and sold readily at advanced prices, while also for plain and inferior cows there was an improving tendency. We quote: Heavy fat bullocks £8 5s to £9, medium fat bullocks £7 5s to £B, light do £5 14 s to £6, heavy fat cows and heifers £5 7s to £6, medium do £4 to £4 17s 6d, inferior quality cows £3 to £3 17s* vealers £2 to £2 12s 6d, light killable cows £2 5s to £3, good store cows 22s to 335, others 23s to 31s. Sheep: Although the yarding Of grown sheep comprising principally wethers was smaller than usual, rates were reduced in comparison with last week’s, more noticeably so on inferior quality. Good wethers were in keen demand, as likewise were lambs, which sold readily under keen competition from exporters. We quote: Medium fat wethers 22s to 24s 3d, light do 19s 6d to 21s 6d, good fat i ewes 14s to 16s, others 13s to 14s, heavy fat lambs 20s 3d to 225, light do 17s to 19s 6d, small store 2-tooth wethers to 17s 3d. Pigs: Again only a small yarding of fat pigs came forward, consisting mainly of porkers. Values remained firm. Medium numbers of stores and weaners elicited brisk bidding, and prices accordingly were well in advance of the last week's rates. Medium porkers 35s to £2 2s 6d, light do 25s to 31s, large store pigs 23s to 24s 6d, smaller do 21s to 22s 6d, slips 17s to 20s, weaners 13s to 16s 6d. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report:— Sheep: At Frankton sale on Tues day a smaller entry of both fat wethers and ewes came forward. The short supply did not affect competition, and prices showed no improvement on late rates. Spirited competi tion, however, again prevailed in the j lamb section, rand a good entry sold at firm, rates. One pen of prime heavy lambs sold on account of Mr A. Caley, Rotongaro, realised 23s 9d. Cattle. Ox beef was yarded in smaller numbers, with well finished cattle showing no alteration in values. Steers on account of Mr T. M. Hall, Ohaupo Road, sold from £7 18s to £9 ss. Cow and heifer beef was yarded, in good numbers, our entry comprising a good percentage of well finished cattle. Competition was good at late rates. A truck of nine good quality cows on account of Mr R. F. Hall, of Walton, sold from £5 14s to £6 15s, and averaging £6 is. second quality and boner cows remained unchanged. A few pens of store cattle, including somb fresh conditioned steers, sold firmly. Runners and vealers were again yarded in full numbers, values showing no alteration. Well grown F.A. runners from Mr John Patterson,

of Horotiu, sold from £2 3s to £2 10s. Pigs: Another short yarding of fat y pigs, comprised mostly of unfinished p. sorts, which met with keen competi- "• tion from buttermilk buyers. Stores were also keenly sought after, while weaners in particularly were in demand. Quotations: Sheep: Medium prime wethers 24s to 255, light fat wethers 21s to 22s 9d, medium fat ewes 14s to. 15s 3d, light ,12s to 13s 6d, extra prime lambs 23s 3d to 23s 9d, heavy prime lambs 20s to 225, medium 17s 6d to 18s 9d, forward condition 13s 3d to 17s. Cattle: Prime runners £3 10s, medium weight £2 3s to £2 10s, vealers 20s to 265, rough calves 7s to 14s, prime medium fat steers £9 ss, light £6 10s to £7 18s, prime fat cows and heifers £6 10s to £6 15s, medium £5 10s to £5 19s, light £3 10s to £4 ss, killable cows £2 8s to £2 16s, fresh condition cows 30s to 365, heavy boners 22s to 28s, rough cows 12s to 16s, forward condition steers £5 15s to £5 16s, 2 year Hereford heifers £2 11s, store vcows 27s to 345. , OTO'ROHANGA STOCK SALE. At Otorohanga on Wednesday the fc New Zealand Loan and Mercantile •Agency Comapny yarded fat and store cattle in about the usual supply, and met with a keen sale at values fully equal to late rates. A few pens of in-calf and yearling heifers and bulls also realised usual market rates. The yarding of dairy cattle was a large one, including the advertised herd, but most were only second-class cattle. Prices were much the same as at the previous sale, and practically all changed hands. Me-dium-quality fat cows, and heifers made £3 5s to £3-11s, lighter fat cows £2 IBs to £3 ss, fresh-conditioned cows £1 16s to £2. ss, good stores £1 10s to £1 15s, boners £1 to £1 10s, yearling Jersey heifers £1 15s, bulls to £3, good dairy cows and heifeis close to*profit £3 10s to £4 15s, medium ditto £2 15s to £3 10s, late and inferior to £2 10s. Messrs Dalgety & Ltd., rep°rt having held their fortnightly sale av Matamata on Wednesday, when a small yarding of eheep, and yarding of fat and store cattle, with a medium yarding of dairies, cam forward, and sold under fair competition. We quote:—Sheep: Heavy fat lambs £1 3s, small store lambs 6d. Cattle: Fat Shorthorn cows

£5 ss, fat Holstein cows £5, light fat cows £2 10s to £3 15s, medium fat heifers £3 to £4 ss, light ditto £2 to £2 15s, meaty cows 30s to 355, boners £1 to 28s, young Jersey empty cows 25s to 30s, good quality yearling Jersey heifers 25s to 37s 6d, small yearling Jersey heifers 15s to £l. Dairies: Medium quality Jersey heifers £4 10s to £5 ss, more backward heifers £3 10s to £4 3s, others £2 10s to £3, rough dairy cows 30s to £2 ss. Pigs: No fat pigs were yarded. Best stores made 24s to 28s, others £1 to 23s 6d, slips 17s 6d to £l, weaners 8s to 12s.
