A suggestion chat the Government should assist settlers who were struggling against adverse circumstances rather than expend money on opening up new settlements was made by the South Auckland Provincial executive of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union in a. letter received by the Wjaikato sub-provincial executive ot the union at a meeting in Hamilton yesterday. The letter stated new settlements were being opened up and people were left there poverty-strick-en and unable to manage the new farms. Iff the • money spent was used to assist established farmers in difficulties it would enable them to employ mote of those people.
