three kio kio residents,
Three residents of Kio Kio named John Dempsey, John Tarleton and Massey Frew 1 , were charged m the Te Awamutu Court on Wednesday being found on licensed pvemises after hours on July 17th. Pleas of guilty were entered. The police stated that on the date In question, at about 9 P-™-> was seen to stop near the Alpna Hotel Kihikihi, and three men entered 'the hotel by the front door A couple of mmutes later Constable Shlaw entered. He found two of the defendants in the sitting room. One of them said they were looking foi a wine.” The third man, accosted in the passage, said he was looking for the licensee. Latei, he told t constable ihe was looking for a friend, he could not remember the name. There was nothing to indicate that liquor had' been supplied. Counsel suggested that the young men “in a spirit of devilment/ had entered the premises, and said they wanted a drink. They had been perfectly frank. , His Worship commented that such people made it very awkward for hotel licensees. A fine of £1 each, with costs 12s, was imposed.
