EXPORT OF CARCASES
ROYAL SHOW AWjARDS. LONDON JUDGING RESULTS. Further London awards in connection with classes held at the Royal Show in February have been received by the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association. In the class for three fat lambs, in wool, most suitable for the English imarket, the following were the placings: H. Rhodes' (Paterangi) entry, 1 and Fletcher Cup; S. A. Rhodes' (Paterangi entries, 2 and 3. In the class for one porker, most suitable for export, to the London market, the judgings were:—G. D. Porritt's entry, 86 points, 1; A. T. Rogers' entries, 85 points and 78 points, 2 and 3; A. W. Phillips' entry, 77 points, 4. The results of judging prior to shipment to London were:—Lambs: H. J. Finlayson's entry, 1; S. A. Rhodes' entry, 2; L. Mohring's entry, 3. Porker: H. E. Fieldhouse's entries, 1 and 2; Ajmbury's, Limited, entry, 3. After judging at the show the entries in these classes were killed at the Westefild freezing works, the entries in the classes for the district competition for export lambs and best individual pen the London results of which were published on June 16th, being killed at the Auckland Farmers' Freezing Company's Southdown w.orks.
It is rather interesting- to recall that two years ago Mr H. Rhodes' entl'y was not in the first five placings of the New Zealand judges, yet he won the cup on the London judging. Last year, Mr Finlayson won the cup, with Mir S. Rhodes second and third. This year Mr Rhodes had tnd same experience as two years ago —unplaced ,in New Zealand, and first •In London. This would probably suggest that the two sets of judges adjudicate from different standards.
