ITEMS OP INTEREST. 1, > (Our Resident Representatit^.) The work of the erection of the huge new butter factory to the order of the N.Z. Co-operative Dairy Co., Ltd., at Otorohanga, has now commenced, and Us giving employment to a - large staff of skilled and unskilled labourers. The site is just south of the town boundary, on the main highway between the railway line and the Wiaipa River. As an indication of the size of the structure it may be mentioned that, upwards of 200 tons of cement has already been ordered for the concrete : werk.. It is expected that the "new factory will be manufacturing butter in October next. The Otorohanga branch committee of the British and Foreign 'Bible Society hrfs recently been very successful in raising funds in the town and district, whiqh hast enabled it to ■forward' £2B 7s 5d to headquarters. About 60 relatives and friends of M,r and Mrs George Cockburn, of sisted at their recent silver wedding Bledisloe Avenue, Otorohanga, asceiebraticns. Mrs and Mrs Cockburn were married in Edinburgh on June 9th, 1909, and have resided here for The past twenty years... Numerous Kio Kio friends and wellwishers of Mr George Lissington tendered him a card evening in honour of his approaching marriage. The function was held at the Kio Kio Golf Club’s rooms, where a splendid supper w&3 served. Mr Lissington was presented with a solid leather dressing case as a memento of the occasion. Mr and Mys Fred Cleland, “Pinedale ” Puketarata, tendered a ccmiing-of-age party to Miss Kathleen Hard- • ing, which was attended by most of the young people of the immediate dj'.trict. Competitions, cards, games, dancing and musical items were the order of a memorable evening. The Otorohanga ladies’ hockey team will meet Paterangi at Te Awamutu, on Saturday (to-day), where they are looking forward to reversing the scores of them last contest with Paterangi.
