This statement was made by Sir Austen Chamberlain, formerly Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, when opening a Unionist Fair at Birmingham. "Formerly I was opposed to women's suffrage, recognising that woman does npt "need the vote to get her owji way," added Sir Austen. "I confess now that the evil consequences I apprphended have not followed.'
