WEDDING BELLS

ST. JOHN'S CHURCH. GILBERTSON—ROTHERY. A marriage of wide King Country and Otago interest was celebrated at the Roman Catholic Church, Otorohanga, en Tuesday morning-, by the Rey. Father Dore. The contracting parties were Kathleen, second daughter of Mr and Mrs Henry Rothe;;.y, Te Kuiti Road, and John Leonard Gilbertson, of Nelson. Miss Josephine McGettingan (Otorohanga) provided the pleasing music, while Mrs O'Ccnnell sang the sacred solo, " Ave Maafia." Mr Rothery escorted his daughter up the aisle to the strains of the Wedding March. Her frock was of white lace, with pintucked georgette, fashioned on slender lines, with a flared skirt. Her head was draped with a tulle veil, which fell in graceful folds. Orange bloasoms were clasped in a spray at the back of the head. Her bouquet was of white roses, sweet peas and chrysanthemums. Miss D. Rothery, sister of the bride, and Miss M. Reilly (Auckland) were the bridesmaids. They were flocked alike in powder blue crepe suede, fashioned on Empire lines, with soft bustle bows. Their hats were of blue straw, relieved with petunia ribbon, and carried bouquets of seasonal blooms. Mr R. Chitty, of 'Hamilton, was best man, and Mir B. Rothery (brother of the bride) was groomsman. A largely attended reception was held at the homestead of the bride's parents, where numerous toasts were honoured and mlany congratulatory speeches made. Mrs Rothery received her guests weaving a black, /self-striped silk frock relieved with white, her hat being of black felt, and her bouquet of carnations and violets. j wore a black fur coat, over a black ! georgette frock, her bat being- oi black felt. Mrs Gilbertson's travelling- dress was a Norfolk costume of rum-brown suiting- with hat and shoes to tone. The young couple propose to make an extensive tour of the North Island before settling in their new home.

MARTIN—MURDOCH. A wedding of wide town and district interest, was solemnised at the Presbyterian Church, Otorohanga, by the Rev. T. H. Burton, 8.A., on Wednesday last, in the presence of numerous relatives and friends. The principals were Jessie Violet, third daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Murdoch, of W'hawharua, and Hugh Bennett, second aon of Mr and M,vs Martin, of Dunedin. The. wedding music was provided by Miss Hopkirk, of Otoiio. hanga. Her father gave the bride away, and she looked very winsome in a frock of ivory charmeuse and radium lace, moulded to the figure. Her veil was of hand-embroidered ivory tulle, and was attached by circlets of orange blossoms, falling in gentle folds into the long train. Hea* beautiful bouquet comprised asparagus ferns and chrysanthemums. Her sister! Miss E. Murdoch, was bridesmaid, and she was charmingly attired in a creation of salmon pink wind-swept satin, which, with a bouquet of lovely blooms of chrysanthemums, intermingled with asparagus fern, pro. duced an altogether pleasing effect. Miss Marie Cockburn was the flower girl, and she looked very becoming m an angle-length pale green satin dress. Mr Alex Cockburn was best man. The reception was held at the Otorohanga residence of Mr and Mrs Cockburn, Bledisloe Avenue. Mr and Mrs Murdoch received their guests on the lawn. Mrs Murdoch wore a very ! nice frock of blue cresta crepe de chine, her bouquet comprising daphne and pansies. After the recepticn Mr and Mrs Martin left for Auckland, where the honeymoon will be spent, prior to the young couple settling at Cambridge.
