"NOT TRUE TO LIFE"

CARTOONS OF THE FARMER. Criticism was levelled by Mr. F. Waite during the annual conference of the Otago provincial council of the New Zealand Farmers' Union at the fact that in cartoons the farmer was generally represented as hanging ovei a fence with his trousers patched up. The general impression conveyed bj these cartoons was that the farmehad nothing to do. Mr. Waite said that even in "Poinl Blank," the farmers' own paper, the farmer was depicted in attitudes thai were not true to life.
