MEAT PRODUCERS’ BOARD
REPRESENTATION QUESTION
(By Telegraph. Press Association. WELLINGTON, Wednesday.
The desirability of giving the bobby calf and pig export industries direct representation on the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board was discussed at a meeting of the Dominion Executive of the Farmers’ Union today. The Minister of Agriculture, Hon. C. E. Magmillan, bad replied to the executive’s representations on the subject, pointing out that it would be very difficult to accede to the request. Mr H. E. Blyde said it was felt that in view of the growing importance of the pig export industry it
should have some representation on the board to deal with future developments. It was considered there should be some person on the board capable of speaking 'with authority for pig breeders and exporters.
It was decided that the matter was one which should be decided by the annual conference of the union.
