TRAINEES’ SUCCESS

AT HOPU HOPU CAMP. A coveted trophy, the Efficiency Cup, competed for by the various drill centres, at the recent military encampment at Hopu Kopu, was won by B Company (Otorohanga and ie Awamutu) trainees, with Te Kuiti second. Otorohanga trainees also won the shooting cup and the sports cup, the latter in conjunction with the Te Awamutu platoon. Promotions were announced as follows: Seigeant T. Dennison to be company sergeant-major; Sergeant F. Waters (Te Awamuu) was promoted to quar-ter-master-sergeant; Corporal R. Sinclair to be sergeant; Private R. Robinson to be lance-corporal. Te Kuiti were successful in winning the machine gunners’ trophy. Trainees are loud in their praises of the equipment, and conduct of the camp, and also as regards the catering and entertainment.
