An Old Crock Goes Filming.

An aged car, a 1902 Peugeot, ..has joined the cast of Monty Banks' British International Films' film, "You Made Me Love You," and plays an important part in scenes filmed in • the country lanes around Elstree. When it arrived at the. location the actor engaged to play the chauffeur took one look at its old fashioned high built chassis and problematical engine and caught the next train back to London.

The director, undismayed by tshe :situation,. prepared to- play the driver himself, and since -Monty's driving is famous at Elstree for its .dash and daring, his unit prepared to see some fun. . ......... '<*■■■•* ':

The first scenes to be filmed were in the Elstree station yard and Stanley Lupino and Thelma Todd were to drive off in "The Golden Air-vow " as the old crock had been "christened. Monty, clad in a holland coat and peak cap, took his seat at the wheel and the equipage, with groans and grunts, slowly moved off. . Despite the gentle speed,' however,' the party crashed into a fence, for Monty overlooked the fact that there were no four wheel brakes, in 1902. During the- day many- scenes were filmed as the Golden Arrow beetled along the lanes, t'o the huge-delight of local inhabitants, but she called it a day on a hill with a gradient of 1 in 50 and refused to budge. She was finally towed to the 8.1. P. studios where, when she recovered her breath, she played in some interior scenes in the same film. .*. .
