ALLEGED SHEEP STEALING

NG AH APE SETTLER ARRESTED. Following complaints that sheep had been missed from the property of Mr J. R. Kay, at Korakonui, the Kihikihi and Te Awamutu police instituted investigation, and as a result Constables J. Forsyth and H. Shaw arrested a man named Frank A. Loft yesterday, and he was brought before justices this morning, when, on the application of the police, he was remanded to appear before the magisti'ate at Hamilton to-morrow. From what we can gather Mr Kay had depastured a flock of sheep on a property near Ngahape for some months, and recently it was found that several were missing. It is understood that Loft, when questioned on the subject) made ceifain admissions that resulted in his arrest. He is a small farmer in the district, and is well-known and inspected. The charge will be one of theft of seven sheep* of a total value of £7 17s 6d.
