TE AWAMUTU BOARD
AUGUST MEETING. The annual mionthly meeting of Te Awamutu Electric Power Board was held on Friday, Mr J. T. Johnson presiding, and also present were Messrs W. J. North, J. C. Montenore, J. G. Sutherland, A. L. Storey, S. O. B. Macliy, N. M. Lethbridge. and J, B. Teasdale, together with the secretarymanager (Mr D. T. B. McArthur). Th= clerk, Ohaupo Town Board, inquiring if it was possible to grant a reduction in charges for street lights.—The manager reported that the present vearly charge for light was £5 10s, less 10 per cent, £4 19s net.—Jt was decided to make no further reduction this year, and it was remarked that street lighting at Ohaupo had not been profitable to the Board owing to frequent replacements. A lengthy list of overdue accounts —all of them for service lineswas tabled, the total exceeding £SOO, and after discussion it was decided to instruct the secretary to institute Court proceedings for recovery of all accounts 12 months or more in arrear, if not paid by 24th October. It was at first proposed to miake the final date 24th September, but a little time longer was allowed. Intimiation was received that the annual conference of the Power Sup-; ply Authorities' Association would be Held at Wellington on 27th and 28th September, and asking for the appointment of Te Awamutu Board delegates. The engineers' conference was to be held on 25th and 261 h September.—The chairman, the secretarymanager, and the engineer were authorised to attend. The chairman asked if it was desired to forward any reniits to the conference. Personaily thought one should go forward regarding payments to the Public Works Department being 'based on the average peak over there-monthly periods rather than the one quarterly peak. He thought it would be fairer, especially in dairying districts. The chairmian said the representations along these lines from the South Auckland Boards' conference had been declined hjy the Department's chief engineer, but he thought representation from, the Dominion conference would be more successful. Members approved, and it was decided to fram'e a rvmit along those lines*, and also any other remits considered desiraible. The financial statement showed the power fund account in credit £1693 2s Bd, the loan account in debit £1734 10s Id, and th; consumers' finance loan account in credit £251 Is sd. The total credit over the three accounts was £209 14s.' Accounts presented and passed for payment totalled £2637 5s lid. Revenue from the sale of current during June was shown as: PcAver, £620 12s 7d; general lighting and heating, £1065 7s lid; street lighting, £4l 2s; penalties and sundries, £l!4 6s lOd; tdtal, £1761 9s 4d. The revenue for June last year was £1567 0s lid. A new arrangeiment to supply to Te Awamutu Co-operative Dairy Company to enable two shafts to be worked at the factory was explained by the manager and approved, it being explained that the arrangement was on the same basis as agreed upon by the Board in 1929.
