EIGTHTEENTH ANNUAL MEETING.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The eighteenth annual meeting of the W'aipa Racing Club was held on Friday evening, the president, Mr A. H. iStorey, occupying the chair; also present were Messrs F. Quin, A. S. Wallace, M. H. Tims, S. A. Empson A. Bond, W. Alexander, and J. P. O'Sullivan. The annual report was read as follows: "In presenting the eighteenth annual report it is pleasing to state that, in spits of the continued depression, the loss on this year's working is only £202 lis lOd, after providing for depreciation £207 6s and writing of £9B 6s Od on t.ccount of unpaid subscriptions and accounts. It is also satisfactory to note that the bank overdraft is £2OO less than last year. Your Coi-mrtittee has been endeavouring to obtain a permit for a second day, but, in spite of the fact that the Auckland District Committee had recamimiended an additional day, the Racing IConference did not grant it. With the advent of the improved, betting regulations which have come into force since the Club's last race meeting an improved financial return on our next meeting, which lakes place on 16th December, can be reasonably anticipated."

In the statement of finances the race meeting account showed the disbursements, including: Stakes £725, dividend tax £438 10s, totalisator tax £4Ol Is lOd, stakes tax £3B 9s, amusements hex £4O 10s lid, printing and advertising £B7 6s 2d„ wages £65 13s 6d, refreshments £25 13s Bd, Conference levies £25, accommodation £8 14s 6d, ambulance £5 ss, band £5, cartage £3 9s, and general expenses £3 lis 9d, Receipts included: Gate money £237 Is 6d, totalisator £1128,1s 6d 5 dividend tax £438 10s, stakes tax £3B 9s, nomination and acceptance fees £207, race card sales £73 18s, booth lights £BS, leaving a balance to profit and loss account of £334 14s Bd.

•In the profit and loss account .interest accounted for £362 18s lOd, wages and .salaries £282 1.5 s 6d, repairs and maintenance £sl 18s, rates £95 8s lOd, insurance £25 14s sd, depreciation written off £207 6s, subscriptions written off £64 Is, bad debts written off £34 ss, printing and advertising £6 2s 6d, manure £24. and general expenses £67 Is 6d. Subscriptions received totalled £240 9s, totalisator tax refunded £250 13s sd, track fees £97 2s 6d, rent; of stables £6B, Golf Club £ls, sundry receipts. £l4 0s 2d, profit on race meeting £334 14s Bd, leaving balance to balancesheet £202 lis lOd. Among the assets were: Stallion account £22 8s 3d, live stock £B9 18s, subscriptions outstanding £lB5 17s sundry debtors £lB2 0s 6d. Mr W. G. Park, in forwarding an apology for absence from the annual meeting, added: "On perusal of the balance-sheet it is pleasing to note that, in spite of the depression, the club is progressing." An apology for absence was received from Mr J. T. Young owing to indisposition. The following officers wpre elected: Patrons, Messrs W. J. Bradfoot and D. S. Reid, M's.P., re-elected; president, Mr W. G. Park; vice-presidents, Messrs A. H. :Storey, J. H. Elliott, F. Quin, and A. S. Wallace; auditor, Mr G. O. Jourdain (re-elected); judge, Mr A. Tronson; clerk of course, Mr J. Pollard, re-elected; clerk of scales, Mr S. C. B. Macky, re-elected; timekeeper, Mr F. Seccombe, re-elected; honorary surgeons, Drs F. C. Blundell, K. N. Hiskens, J. B. W. Roherton, and L. S. Rogers; honorary veterinary sur.geon, Mr V. Priest; treasurer, Mir J. P. O'.Sullivan, re-elected; representative on Country Clubs' Association,* Mr M. H. Tims; course committee, Messrs M. li. Tims, T. G. Martin, J. T. Young, and J. P. O'Sullivan; committeemen (other than guarantors), Messrs A. Bond, W. Alexander, S. A. Empson, J. P. O'Sullivan, and C. F. Storey; representative' on Breeders' Association, Mr J. G. Wynyard. Track fees and their regular collection came up for discussion, and it was decided to require regular payment according to the existing rules. The innovation of the " win and place" system of totalisator investments, and the possibility of additions to the totalisator building, were mentioned, and 'it A\las decided to ask Messrs Blom|field and Company to send a representative to confer with the executive.

Mr T. G. Martin was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his valued services as farm manager, and the vote was carried by acclamation.
