INFLUENZA BAFFLED

FILM STAR AVOIDS HOSPITAL TREATMENT. Maintaining the tradition of show people that “ the show must go on,” Katharine Hepburn was not restrained by a sudden attack of influenza from completing her leading role in RKO-Radio Pictures’ “ Christopher Strong.” Miss Hepburn was taken from the “ Christopher Strong ” lot and rushed to the Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles. She was ordered to remain abed for a week, but the inactivity irked her and she returned to work a day later. At the studio she was closeted in a heated dressing room between scenes, and was permitted, by the doctor in. attendance, to work only ten minutes at a time. The closing sequences of “ Christopher Strong ” were “ shot ” under these circumstances under the direct supervision of. Dorothy Arzner, the only woman director in Hollywood.
