GOLDEN WEDDING. ' (Own Correspondent). " A very pleasant function was held! at the'residence of Mr and Mrs A.. Henderson, of KioKio,.on*;26thvDecember, to celebrate the golden wedding of two of Kihikihi's oldest and :* most highly respected residents, Mr ■- and' Mrs John Anderson. Ma* Anderson, who was born in;. Glasgow,, arrived in New Zealand fifty-three years - ago by the ship Jessie Hedeman, and 1 , three years later Mrs Anderson, then Miss Margaret Jarvis, daughter of' Mr and Mrs John Jarvis, of East Kilbride, Glasgow, arrived, and their: marriage was celebratedJat'. the byterian Church, Cambridge, after - which they took up their residence at. Kihikihi, where theyhayer;resided ever.since. The celebration took the form of afamily gathering, being unique in that - the whole family, of two sons and five - daughters were present, mj. well -as - many grandchildren, many„ oLwhomsat down to a sumptuous dinner, the tables and room being most artistically decorated for the occasion in a ■. .- colour scheme of mauve and gold, During the dinner many toasts .were honoured, and . presentations weremade to Mr and Mrs Anderson on behalf of their family, Mr Andrew Anderson presenting his.father.with a gold-mounted walking stick and his ■ mother with a gold-mounted umbrella,, both gifts being suitably inscribedi > s On behalf of the grandchildren beautiful bouquets were presented by John Kay and Betty Anderson. The following afternoon Mr and Mrs Anderson left for Auckland to spend a short holiday with, their daughter, Mrs Alexander, of Mount Albert. - Those present included Mr and Mrs Andrew Anderson, Mr; and Mrs J. J. Anderson, Mr and Mrs A. Anderson, Mr and Mrs J. B. Hutchinson, Mrand Mrs Alexander, Mr and Mrs J. - G. Sutherland, Mr and Mrs H. O. Kay, and thirteen grandchildren.': . On Christmas night the Presblterian Church, Kihikihi. was filled;, to s .the?doors with members of the congrec gation who had met to do honour totwo of their oldest members, i.Mp and Mrs John Anderson, who have. 1 worked untiringly in the interests; of.their church for the past 50,years. ...
