" There is no reason why we should not be able to finish the session before Christmas," said the Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, in replying to members when he moved that Government business should take procedence over private members' and local bills for all sitting days for ' the remainder of the session. Mr Forbes promised that he would try to make ai-rangements not to exclude private members entirely. However, the Order Paper had' been almost cleared of private members' Bills, only one remaining, so that more progress had been made in this direction this session than for some time.
