" I do not ..want it to be understood that any unemployed person who kills a sheep, or steals anything is going to be given probation," remarked Mr J. H. Salmon, 5.M.,. at the Magistrate's Court at' .Wanganui last Saturdaymorning when imposing' 12 months' probation on three relief workers who pleaded guilty to having killed two sheep without lawful authority. "1 am imposing probation in the present case, simply because of your good character in the past and because of the peculiar circumstances under which the acts were committed," headded, addressing the men.
