CAR GOES OVER BANK

MAORII DRIVER KILLED.

(By Telegraph. Press Association.) HASTINGS, Monday.

A Maori, Whakarangi Karaitiani, Kamau, of Bridge Pa, was killed today when his car went over a bank near Mason's Ridge.

A party of Maori shearers was returning to Hastings and stopped to go eeling, leaving Kamau with the car. When the party returned they found the car at the bottom of a gully and the body of deceased close by. It is assumed that Kamau was engaged in adjusting the brakes and when he released them the car went backwards over the bank.

Deceased was aged 39 and was a married man with one child.
