BUSHFELLERS KILLED
BOTH EXPERIENCED WORKERS.
(By Telegraph. Press Association.) WHANGAREI, Wednesday. Two bushfelling fatalities have occurred 'n the Far North.
M r Teri Pirikito Bristowe, a marred man, aged 40 was engaged, together with 19 others, on a bushfe'ling contract at Orakau. Deceased was sljruck on the forehead by a smal limb of a falling tree. He received a fracture of the skull and died within half an hour without regain'ng consciousness.
Mr David Apiata, a married man, aged 24, of Oromahoe, was engaged with another man in fel.ing an isolated tree at Waimate North. De- : k
ceased caHed out to his companion to get e'ear, but he himself was struck by the falling tree and received a fracture of the skull and he d'ed later. His companion got clear. The district coroner at Kaikohe, Mr T. Guerin, conducted inquests, and a verdict of accidental death was returned in each instance. Both men were experienced bushmen, and all possible precautions were taken in the fell'ng operations.
