WAIPA RUGBY UNION

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS. Mr G. W. Mairs presided at the weekly meeting of the Waipa Rugby Union management committee on Monday evening. . The referee in the Ohaupo v. High School match last Saturday at Ohaupo reported having cautioned J. Archer (Ohaupo) for threatening to strike an opponent. A medical certificate in respect to an injured player was received. Mr Annibal reported that he had been unable to arrange for the billeting of the members of the Marist (Auckland) fifth grade team, and the secretary was instructed to advise the Marist Club of the fact. It was arranged to play the final for the Teddy Shield, between Otorohanga and Te Awamutu High School teams, next Saturday at 1 p.m. Matamata Union advised that Waipa’s suggestion to play the Peace Cup game at Matamata on the 20th ins't., instead of next Saturday, had been agreed to. The names of three referees for the game were forwarded, and Mr S. E. Senior, of Hamilton, was chosen.

The Arohena player who had been ordered off the field on a' recent Saturday, telephoned explaining his inability to attend the meeting, owing to impassable roads. —His case was deferred.

The secretary was instructed .to write to Morrinsvilie Union asking for the Boyce Cup draw. The Waikato Union notified the draw for the first round of the Waikato junior championship (Clarke Cup) to be played on August 20th. Matamata plays Rotorua at Rotorua, Morrinsvilie plays Cambridge at Morrinsvilie, Raglan plays' Taupiri at ißaglan, and Hamilton plays Waipa at Hamilton. The semi-final will be played on August 27th and the final on September 3rd. Reports on last week’s representative game were received. One junior player is to be asked for an explanation of his non-attendance at the appointed time. Mr Shepherd reported that there had been some bad lauguage by players on No. 2 ground on , Saturday last. —The Union decided that any player found guilty of using unseemly language will be severely dealt with. Mr Shepherd reported that the Cambridge and Te Kuiti High School teams would like to meet at Te Awamutu next Saturday (the day of the Teddy Shield match between Otorohanga and Te Awamutu), and he asked if a ground would be available. — No. 2 ground was allotted, and the game will be played at 11.30 a.m. The application of T. Macky for re-grading from senior to junior was granted, it being explained that that player was called upon last Saturday to fill a vacancy in the senior team after having just played in a junior game. Mr Haselden was appointed manager of the Waipa senior rep. team next Saturday to play Hamilton at Albert Park in the Finlay Cup round. Mr Shepherd reported that the Waipa Primary Schols’ Union had decided to send a team to Northcote during the term holidays to compete in the Roller Mills Shield tournament, and he asked if the Union would grant some financial assistance towards the cost.—Deferred for a week.

The secretary was instructed to arrange for a charge day next. Saturday in connection with the Finlay Cup rep.- game. It was decided to play the final of the junior championship competition on Saturday next, between Te Awamutu and Rovers (these teams be'ng level after last Saturday’s draw), and in the event of a draw again the teams will play two more spells of seven minutes each, or until such time as a score or a force down is registered. This game is also to count for the Doyle Cup.
