HOCKEY

WEDNESDAY'S GAMES. A very useful hockey practice was held at Albert Park on Wednesday afternoon between the High School team that will oppose the Auckland Grammar School team shortly in the challenge match for the Rankin Shield and an eleven selected from the Ramblers and Waratahs. High School eventually won by one goal to nil. The Paterangi ladies' team met and defeated the Rovers (Te Awamutu) at Paterangi yesterday afternoon by eight goals to nil. Telegraphic advice was * received in Te Awamutu this afternoon from Taranaki stating that the Taranaki rep. team won the final game for the Norden Cup yesterday afternoon by one goal to nil after a hard, game with Bush. The game was played at Wanganui. Preparations are being made for a Te Awamutu ladies' team to visit Te Kuiti on Wednesday of next week. It is likely that a Technical Old Boys team from Hamilton will visit Te Awamutu next Wednesday to play the local High School eleven.
