OBITUARY

MR ROBT. WEBSTER. Many residents of this district, and particularly those at Pokuru and Kihikihi, will learn with regret of the death of Mr Robert Webster, a former settler in those districts. Mr Webster, who was born in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, sixty-five years ago, came to the Dominion a little over thirty years ago, and settled in Otago, where he took a prominent part in athletic affairs. About twenty years ago he moved north, and soon took up land at Pokuru, improving his holding and winning the esteem of his fellow settlers for his sterling character and good farming methods. He was a strong advocate of Friesian cattle, as best suited to that district's re-, quirements, and his herd included many pedigree animals. On disposing of that farm he resided for some time in the Kihikihi district, and later removed to the Matakana district, nox-th of Auckland, but more recently he had resided at Runciman. He is survived by a widow and grown-up family of five daughters and three sons.
